First this page has helped me feel like I am still sane after all. I am a 23 year old mother of two. After my last baby was born, 6 mo. ago, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. My midwife suggested paxil. I have never been one for taking drugs, but my midwife assured me paxil was safe. I even asked about side effects when getting off of paxil and she told me that it was very rare and not to worry. Well, 6 mo. latter I was ready to get off and I tried to follow-up with her, but got no return phone calls,I weaned myself. I was taking 20 mg so I dropped to 10 mg for a week and quit. Help! I thought I was losing it. I have at least 80% of the symptoms you have printed and I can hardly function as a mother right now. When I finally got intouch with my midwife and told her of my symptoms, she said that she had never heard of such severe withdrawl symptoms, but because I nolonger have medical insurance and could not afford her fees she said there was nothing she could do for me,with out me being able to afford to come in. So in a nut shell, they put me on this hellish drug without even knowing the ill effects of it, got me addicted, and left me high and dry with out any help or follow-up care. So atleast now I know that I am not the only one experiencing these side effects, and that I am not crazy, and that I am going to live through this awfull time. Thanks to your web site & not the ill informed Doctors that put me through this awfull experience. Thank you again. P.S I worked in a medical clinic for about two years and just F.Y.I over 60% of the patients that came in were put on Paxil or Zoloft. It was passed out like candy with very little patient education on any addicting nature or withdrawl symptoms. I personally feel that these drugs were given out to eagerly and without examing other alternatives first. Most of the time they were perscribed within 1/2 hour into the visit. Intersting, since they really do not know all the details. Makes you wonder why they keep doing it so much.
